A metro layout needs of course also other methods of public transportation. Most importantly there has to be some connecting buses that passengers can use to continue their journey from a metro station to a more distant suburb or area.
My first bus model was a Lindholm Lines long-distance bus, which really doesn't fit the scheme described but which I bought because it's one of the few Finnish prototypes available commercially.
Since there aren't really commercially available models of Helsinki city buses and regional buses, I have and will paint and modify my own from foreign prototypes. I don't really mind if the model isn't 100% correct type or if a certain bus model is actually used by the company in real life, as long as it generally resembles a Finnish-style urban or suburban bus.
Buses
Operator: Veolia Transport
Manufacturer: MAN
Type: Short-distance urban bus
Car Number: 225
Line: 55A
Frame: Herpa
This bus is painted to resemble an urban bus operated by Veolia Transport in Helsinki before the color scheme was changed to the red/gray -style. The bus is modified from a german prototype that was originally red.
Operator: Veolia Transport / Transdev
Manufacturer: Mercedes-Benz
Type: Short-distance urban bus
Car Number: 174
Line: 147
Frame: Herpa
This model resembles a Veolia Transport urban bus with the newer red/grey color scheme. It has been repainted from a white/yellow German prototype
Trams
Operator: Helsinki City Transport HKL
Manufacturer: Transtech
Type: MLNRVIII 'Artic'
Car Number: 403
Line: tbc
Model: Leopold Halling
Gauge: H0m
This is a model of the newest tram type in Helsinki, the MLNRV III made by Transtech. My current plans do not include motorizing the tram or have any kind of functional tram section on the layout, but rather just have it as a sort of static display piece. The tram model is H0m gauge representing the 1000mm gauge found in the real system.

Future Plans
I'm in the process of making more buses with the same method of modifying them myself from close-enough prototypes. I have ordered three more buses and they will at some point be made to resemble the Finnish ones. My current plans include having a collection of six different buses, with these one's still upcoming:
- A bus in HSL blue/white livery, operated by Pohjolan Liikenne
- A bus in HSL trunk line orange/white livery, operated by Helsingin Bussiliikenne
- A bus operated by Helsingin Bussiliikenne, in the company's own blue livery
- A bus operated by Nobina, in the older orange/white/blue livery of Concordia
